Over the last few weeks, we’ve written about trust, Lasting Powers of Attorney, financial vulnerability, safeguarding and the responsibilities that often fall upon family members.
A common theme has emerged.
Most people want to do the right thing.
Most families act with the very best intentions.
Most attorneys take their responsibilities seriously.
Yet vulnerability, money, responsibility and changing circumstances can create challenges that few people feel fully prepared for.
Sometimes people need protection.
Sometimes families need support.
Sometimes attorneys need reassurance.
And sometimes everyone involved simply benefits from having an independent pair of eyes helping them navigate difficult decisions.
That realisation is one of the reasons Wise Hen was created.
Not because families cannot be trusted.
Not because people should surrender control of their lives.
But because there are moments in life when support, structure and oversight can provide reassurance to everyone involved.
Our focus is simple:
To help people protect their wishes, dignity and wellbeing while preserving as much independence, autonomy and family involvement as possible.
In many cases that means standing alongside families rather than replacing them.
Providing support rather than taking over.
Helping people carry responsibility with greater confidence.
As our population ages and more families find themselves navigating questions of capacity, care, financial vulnerability and safeguarding, these conversations are only going to become more important.
Wise Hen is our contribution to that conversation.
Because sometimes the most valuable thing we can offer is not control.
It is reassurance.
And the knowledge that neither you, nor the people who care about you, have to navigate the journey alone.
